How Gilbert Kwizera’s Haven Foundation Is Strengthening Cancer Patient Retention in Uganda
Treatment of cancer in Uganda is frequently interrupted not based on the lack of care available to them- but due to the inability of patients to pay. According to a recent article by Daily Express Uganda, Gilbert Kevin Jimmy Kwizera is doing so by providing cancer patients with a means to remain in treatment through his Haven Foundation by providing charity help in a systematic manner. Addressing the Real Reason Patients Drop Out Treatment abandonment is one of the largest issues of cancer care throughout Uganda. A large number of patients start chemotherapy or other forms of treatments but end up not fulfilling the treatment due to transport cost, cost of medication, accommodation issue around the treatment centers, and loss of household earnings.
